FAQs
What can I expect in my first session(s)?
I prefer to spend the first 2-4 sessions assessing what you are wanting to address in therapy, your treatment goals, and gather background information to know you better. This will involve me asking you a lot of questions to learn about these areas. It also allows me to start developing a conceptualization as I determine how we can work together on your treatment goals. Of particular importance during the first few sessions if for me to determine if I am a suitable fit to meet your treatment needs, and for you to determine if you are comfortable working with me.
How often would we meet?
I typically prefer to meet with patients on a weekly basis, especially when we are first starting out. I find this helps us to establish rapport and build momentum in treatment. For patients who prefer a more intensive approach, I have availability to meet for multiple sessions per week.
What if I am already working with another provider?
I will often collaborate with providers who prescribe medications for their patients, as I believe this is important to coordinate treatment. I also will collaborate with other therapists if we are working on distinct areas. I am careful not to duplicate services with other providers, and therefore would need permission to speak with them to make sure this is not the case.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not participate in any insurance panels. However, I will provide you with a monthly superbill which you can submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement. It can also be helpful to contact your insurance company in advance to see what out-of-network benefits they provide.
