Meet John Michael
Dr. John Michael Della Porta, PsyD
Clinical Psychologist
Approach
I provide therapy from a primarily cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective. That means that when we work together on the areas you want to focus on in treatment, I am going to be interested in the role and interplay between how you think, how you act, and how you feel.
I want to help you increase your awareness of what is going on so we can figure out together how to address it. This involved identifying specific tools and strategies to reach out your treatment goals.
My approach is structured, as I have found that to generally help patients more effectively make progress in treatment. It also means that I ask patients to engage in work outside of session to gather more information about areas we are targeting, and practicing the skills we are developing in session. Ultimately, I want you to get to the point where you can be your own therapist.
